The Salvation Army Tree of Lights is a seasonal attraction in Omaha, Nebraska each year. In 2010, the tree was in need of a new base to keep the lighted tree and patrons safe. A local galvanizer offered to galvanize the base at no charge to ensure the annual tradition could carry on for years to come. Originally, the base was to be exposed galvanizing, however once in place, the coatings shine and reflection of light was distracting from the trees beauty, and was painted black to hide it from the public eye. The duplexed base will ensure the people of Omaha can enjoy the Tree of Lights safely for holiday season after holiday season for generations.
