The City of Everett, Massachusetts has recently made efforts at beautification aimed at improving the conditions of its downtown shopping area. The trash receptacles had been rusting and peeling in a highly visible area for years.
The city chose to hot-dip galvanize the receptacles use a duplex system to combat the problems with corrosion that exist in the environment. Over 1.5 tons of steel were hot-dip galvanized, including the approximately twenty trash receptacles located throughout Everett. After the trash receptacles were galvanized, the city chipped in and applied the powdercoat to the material at no extra charge. The result is nicely decorated receptacles that will last for and be corrosion-free for decades to come.
