The Harrisburg Park gives local residents and visitors the chance to experience rural life from the turn of the last century. The town includes a public library, various sport playing fields, a town general store, and a post office from 1905; however, the Harrisburg Railroad is the most raved about feature in the Harrisburg Park.
When the park prepared its plans for the Harrisburg Park Railroad Bridge, hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) was chosen for its authenticity and durability. The bridge was dipped fully assembled, which required the builder and galvanizer to work together closely so proper venting and drainage was incorporated. The end result was a structure the Harrisburg Park is very proud of. The park was so happy with the coating finish they skipped plans to paint over the HDG. Service life prediction data shows the protective HDG coating will last well into the next century in the suburban Harrisburg atmosphere.
