Positioned on a busy street in Michigan, the Rosa Parks Transportation Center needed maintenance-free corrosion protection from harsh northern winter conditions and an industrial environment. The architect for this project desired the matte gray aesthetic of the zinc coating for the outside of the building, and decided galvanized steel would meet both his aesthetic vision for the project, but also the corrosion protection needs. Fifty tons of canopy, roof steel, and sun shades were hot-dip galvanized, and now stand rust-free and highly visible to passing motorists and pedestrians.
