The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art is a museum devoted to the art of the picture book and especially the children's book. It is adjacent to the campus of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. A world-class museum, it features work by nationally and internationally known artists.
... to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the piece, a duplex system consisting of hot dip galvanizing and high-performance paint was specified.
A featured exhibitor is New York Times best-selling author and illustrator Mo Willems who began his career as a writer and animator for Sesame Street, where he garnered six Emmy Awards for his writing. His writing also earned him three prestigious Caldecott Honors and several Theodore Seuss Geisel awards.
Willems drawings and sculptures have been exhibited in numerous galleries and museums across the nation. His monumental sculpture The Red Elephant can be viewed in the courtyard of The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. To protect the sculpture from snow and other weather concerns in Western Massachusetts, and to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the piece, a duplex system consisting of hot dip galvanizing and high performance paint was specified.
