In conjunction with a $2,150,000 investment for a new artificial surface athletic field the Triolet High School wanted a raised grandstand. The many fans of ever popular football and soccer games as well as various track and field events would benefit from the high vantage point but, the Sherbrooke Region School Board had a tight capital budget and even tighter maintenance budget.
Specifications called for 800 seat capacity as well as a press gallery. Generous donations from local businesses and individuals combined with a very effective and low cost structure with almost zero maintenance made the Grandstand hope a reality!
With a beautiful new artificial multi-disciplinary playing field a new grandstand was a must. The old grandstand made with a wooden structure was a maintenance nightmare and had become a safety concern. Aluminum is a common alternative but high initial cost, low rigidity and resultant noisiness were serious negatives. The high strength and low cost of steel made a compelling case but anyone having grown driving the salt laced roads of Canada knows all too well the big negative of steel, rust!
Enter Hot-Dip Galvanizing, for about the same or sometimes even lower price as painting the unbeatable performance package of Hot-Dip is available:
The result is an attractive and sturdy structure with an exceptionally long service life, almost zero maintenance cost despite the long harsh Canadian winters. Grandstands are a perfect fit for Hot-Dip, from the giant super speedways to countless humble school yards like here the Hot-Dip value equation always has the same sum; unbeatable!
