Rising 868 feet above the shore of Biscayne Bay, Panorama Tower is the tallest and most luxurious residential building south of New York City. The 85 floors offer breathtaking views of Key Biscayne, Brickell Key, Port Miami and South Beach. Due to the height of the building, the elevators cruise up to 1,200 feet per minute to the upper floors. In addition to 821 luxury apartments, Panorama Tower houses a 208-room Hyatt Centric Boutique Hotel, multiple restaurants, social lounges, theaters, office space, a pet spa and much more. The beautiful Miami weather can be enjoyed on the 50,000 square foot sundeck wrapping around the 22nd story featuring ocean and sunset view pools, interactive water features and a poolside café and bar. The developers certainly made it difficult for residents to find reasons to leave the comfort of home.

Due to the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and shear height of the tower, there were unique challenges the builder had to consider throughout the design process. Previous positive experiences quickly led the team to hot dip galvanizing as a superior solution for corrosion protection. Not only would the galvanizing offer protection from the corrosive properties of salt water, it would also essentially eliminate the need for routine maintenance, which would be difficult on a building of this height. Ultimately, 35 tons of steel tubes, I-beams and plates were hot dip galvanized to support the stunning glass canopy as well as 800 tons of galvanized reinforcing bar throughout the entire structure.
The owner cited long-term durability, barrier protection, cathodic protection and a virtually maintenance-free repair program as primary reasons for selecting hot dip galvanizing for Panorama Tower. This project was such a great success, the group plans to build two additional skyscrapers in Miami that would exceed Panorama Tower in height. Hot dip galvanizing is set to continue making an impression on the Miami Skyline.
