A project that began with the secret code name “Green Acres”, owing to the fact that the facility was erected on existing soybean fields, will now boost the economy for Clermont County in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. The 1.2 million square-foot facility - a $550 million dollar investment by Nestle’- will create 300 new jobs in the county. Close collaboration with Jobs Ohio and its local partners were essential to attracting Purina’s newest facility to Ohio.
The new location will be the company’s first new factory built from the ground up, since 1975. It will produce dry dog food and cat food brands; including Purina Pro Plan, Purina ONE and Dog Chow. The facility will be Purina’s most technologically advanced pet food factory, utilizing robotics and innovative digital tools and featuring a training center to promote learning and development. Not only a benefit for the local economy but also the Local School District, which will receive negotiated payments in lieu of taxes
In collaboration with another one of the galvanizers’ facilities, beams up to 80’ long, which were too large for the main galvanizing facility were galvanized for the project.
A 3500-ton project located in Batavia, Ohio just outside of Cincinnati. Cooper Steel fabricated the steel and worked closely with the galvanizer on an aggressive timeline, 291 days/41 weeks of constant communication with the galvanizer for on-time deliveries. Regarding deliveries, the galvanizer provided a value-added service setting up/arranging over 150 truckloads of material shipped to the jobsite using multiple carriers to meet Cooper Steel’s schedule. On a few occasions up to 7 truckloads of steel were delivered to the site in a single day, using three different carriers for on-time deliveries.
Another plus for Cooper Steel, the galvanizer was able to galvanize and store multiple loads at their plant, at times up to 30 loads prior to shipments. In collaboration with another one of the galvanizers’ facilities, beams up to 80’ long, which were too large for the main galvanizing facility were galvanized for the project. The successful collaboration between the two galvanizing plants allowed the galvanizer to meet the expectations of Cooper Steel and ultimately deliver the results needed for Nestle’ Purina.
