The over-sized mobius ribbon looming over the new NASCAR Hall of Fame is reminiscent of a NASCAR race track complete with installed lights chasing each other around the track-the perfect topper to this building honoring one of the most popular sports in the United States.
As the key architectural element to this building, this piece needed a structural support that would stand strong under the structures weight and provide the Hall of Fame low maintenance, durable corrosion protection. Hot-dip galvanized steel more than meets these needs. A frame steel supports and tubing sections used to support the ribbon were galvanized. Communication with the fabricator was key, and the galvanizer took great care during the dipping process, as proper venting and drainage of this support system were essential. This mobius ribbon makes the NASCAR Hall of Fame easily identifiable and its galvanized support system will keep it aesthetically pleasing for decades of race-fans to enjoy.
