The Madawaska-Edmundston International Bridge is a crucial link between Madawaska, Maine, and Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. The original bridge, built in 1920, had deteriorated significantly, leading to the necessity of a replacement project. The new bridge is a six-span, steel four-girder system that supports two lanes of traffic, six-foot shoulders for multimodal traffic, and a six-foot sidewalk for pedestrians.
"This modern structure ensures a safer and more efficient connection for both communities"
The severe climate, the fact that the location is over water and any maintenance and repair would be virtually impossible, Hot Dip Galvanizing was specified for it's proven long-term corrosion protection.
