A duplex system was specifically chosen for this project to offer years of care-free maintenance combined with attractive aesthetics that the client could choose to fit their color scheme. The designer recognized that galvanized steel offered fail-safe corrosion protection after witnessing previous experiences with paint deterioration.
Though cost was not a driving factor in the decision, the savings over time of the two coatings working synergistically was significant. The client chose a duplex system for longevity and the estimated life of this property is 50-75 years. The new stairway will easily meet that need.
The quick, reliable turnover allowed for this project to be turned over ahead of time, saving the client time and money. Twenty-five tons of steel were galvanized for this novel and eye-catching spiral staircase.
