While the beams for this project were too long for the galvanizing kettle, the state required a hot-dip galvanized, so the galvanizer utilized progressive dipping to ensure the beams were galvanized to specification. With precise splicing and attention to detail, the galvanizer seamlessly galvanized the oversized beams, delivering the high-quality protection that both the state and partners demand. This project highlights the shared dedication to creating infrastructure built to stand the test of time.
An ODOT engineer who originally worked on the King-Graves Rd. Bridge stated the "bridge is in great shape." The pictures available on ODOT's bridge inspection page are showing damage from almost 10 years ago from collisions with vehicles. Those areas of damage have yet to show any corrosion or deterioration of the coating system. So, in many ways, this HDG coating has really proven its durability, and long-lasting protection.
