The iconic John Hancock sign, a fixture at Fenway Park for over 30 years, has been relocated to a striking new position atop the John Hancock headquarters at 200 Berkeley Street in Boston. Following the conclusion of John Hancock's partnership with the Red Sox in 2024, the 70-foot-long by 23-foot-tall sign now commands attention from its prominent perch—27 stories above the city—on the building’s stepped pyramid roof. Positioned just below the renowned weather beacon, the sign faces north, offering a distinctive presence along the Charles River and reinforcing its connection to the urban fabric.
"it is a celebrated addition to Boston's skyline"
The structural supports and miscellaneous steel from the original Fenway installation, galvanized by the same galvanizer, performed exceptionally well for over three decades in Boston's demanding marine climate. This proven durability made hot-dip galvanizing the clear choice for the new location, ensuring corrosion resistance and minimal maintenance in an elevated, high-exposure environment just miles from the Atlantic. As an architectural feature, the sign is more than a landmark—it is a celebrated addition to Boston's skyline, seamlessly blending history with modernity and further anchoring the John Hancock building as a focal point in the city's visual narrative.
