The transit center in South Dallas was designed to resemble the African Kente cloth with bright colors. But the use of the duplex system also helps designate the different bus routes (red, yellow, green, and blue). The main terminal, canopy beams, and stub columns were hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection and then painted for aesthetic appeal. However, the paint provides more than visual appeal, the duplex system of paint and galvanizing will provide a service life at least 1.5 times more than either system alone. The transit center is located close to the hub along Martin Luther King Boulevard and is highly visible to the public. Using a duplex system ensures the transit center will be a visually appealing and functional facility for many years.
