The Friendship Circle was established in Pittsburghs Jewish Community in 2006. This is an organization for Children with Special Needs. They found a Building in 2014 that was perfect for their mission for these children in a neighborhood convenient for the families to commute. They had no recreational or green-space for the Children who would attend.
The Architect designed a rooftop Garden/Recreation area but needed of course to be safe and not appear like a "cage" or "over-sized Playpen." He selected Galvanized steel with a Duplex Coating that would be LEED® compliant. All new structures that are being built for this sort of industry must be LEED® certified for funding. He felt galvanizing with an ASTM 6386 preparation and colorful paint system, would give them a safe, clean, colorful look and still be safe for the children to play and garden on a rooftop oasis in the middle of an urban neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
