After forty years of clean-up and redevelopment efforts, this four-acre site has been transformed into an accessible waterfront property which can be used for marina, recreation, dining, and waterfront amenities. As part of the transformation from a brownfield site, the Fall River Development Authority developed a vision for this multi-use park to make certain that whatever replaced it would be long-lasting, environmentally sound, and aesthetically pleasing.
It would be long-lasting, environmentally sound, and aesthetically pleasing.
To accomplish the City's vision, the engineer specified established design features and components to accommodate the harsh effects of the salt water. The City Pier required a fencing system and steel was specified. More than 3,000 feet of fencing was needed to revitalize the area. To protect the steel, the engineer specified a duplex coating system of hot-dip galvanizing to provide the long-term corrosion protection and a factory-applied pigmented marine coating for the aesthetics.
