In 2009 a unique partnership between local community organizations and NYC Parks led to the transformation of an abandoned concrete plant into this waterfront park and link in the Bronx River Greenway. Concrete Plant Park, a major segment of the Bronx River Greenway, is seven (7) acres in size. The park is situated on the Hunt’s Point Peninsula along the western shore of the Bronx River. It was home to a working concrete batch mix plant manufacturing cement from 1945 to 1987.
A duplex system was selected for the proven corrosion protection of hot-dip galvanizing and the enhanced aesthetics of a long lasting coating system.
Although the Park was opened in 2009, it has undergone several improvements and additions over the years. Most recently in 2022, a new section of pedestrian/vehicle railings was added. Approximately 1,800 feet of new access pathway and railing replicating the existing railing along the riverfront was erected. A duplex system was selected for the proven corrosion protection of hot-dip galvanizing and the enhanced aesthetics of a long lasting coating system.
