The sculpture was galvanized for longevity of corrosion control due to prolonged exposure to the environment as well as for its aesthetically pleasing appearance.
This sculpture is sixteen feet tall, in the shape of the state of Texas, with a three-dimensional football emerging from the center of the state and an oil rig at the base. It is assembled of steel recycled from the demolished Texas Stadium along with scraps of steel from as many as 1,400 Texas high schools. The structure was erected in Sundance Square as part of the Super Bowl XLV festivities. It was near the ESPN broadcast main stage during the game and will be permanently housed at the new Texas Christian University (TCU) stadium, where it will likely get more local, regional, and national exposure .
