Created originally as the first soccer-specific stadium in the USA, the Columbus Crew Stadium was recently remodeled to diversify its capabilities. The stadium is now a multi-purpose structure with a newly created stage that accommodates seating for both athletic contests and concert performances.
All the structural steel, connections, fasteners and platforms were built to fit a galvanizing kettle ahead of time.
The original structure was hot-dip galvanized (HDG) to guard against the corrosive Columbus Ohios Midwestern winters and wet springs. When it was time to revamp the stadium, HDG was always included in the planning process. All the structural steel, connections, fasteners and platforms were built to fit a galvanizing kettle ahead of time. The end result was a stadium that can host televised soccer playoffs and large scale concerts. The Columbus Crew Expansion Stadium is continuously in the spotlight and HDG will ensure the spotlight illuminates only the most durable and beautiful steel, immune from the corrosion of time.
