Campbell Field, the minor league baseball field for the Camden River Sharks, had the entire interior and exterior railings, landings and platforms, stringers and stairs, and wire mesh inserts galvanized.
This all added up to 100 tons (91 tonnes) of steel. Campbell Field was specified to be hot-dip galvanized due to the success stories of three previously galvanized minor league baseball fields. This stadium is the 'centerpiece' of the Riverfront Revitalization Plan for Camden, N.J. Construction was fast-paced due to the opening day schedule that could not be postponed. Frequently, rails had to be galvanized and delivered to the job site on the same day. These rails had to be both clean and smooth for aesthetic and safety reasons.
