The Old Boston Opera House was built in the 1920's as a vaudeville house. Before the Opera House was refurbished in 2004, the last open performance was in 1989.

The designers specified hot-dip galvanized steel for its quick turnaround time and visual appearance.

During the overhaul, the interior was restored to its original appearance, and the necessary updates were made to meet public codes, including making it accessible for persons with disabilities and adding additional fire escape routes. The designers initially overlooked the need for an entrance/security gate in the rush of completing the project for opening night. The designers specified hot-dip galvanized steel for its quick turnaround time and visual appearance. Once the designers realized their oversight and the gates were fabricated, the galvanizer only had 24 hours to complete the project. The quick turnaround time of HDG made it possible for the gates to be in place in time for opening night of Disneys The Lion King. The gates are highly visible to the public, and should offer an attractive and secure entrance to the Opera House for many shows to come.
