Galvanized steel was used in this parking garage on the external stair tower. HDG steel was specified for its durability and pleasing appearance. Because the stair tower was built onto the outside of the parking structure, it was completely exposed to the environment. Galvanized steel was best suited to withstand the exposure to the environmental elements while offering an aesthetically pleasing appearance. The uniform coating of the metallic finish also allowed patrons an outdoor view from the glass elevators.
