Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge
Omaha, NE United States | 2008
Students at Austin Community College (ACC) in Austin, Texas were forced to cross a busy street when moving from building to building throughout the day. In order to relieve this safety hazard, ACC needed to construct a pedestrian crossing between the buildings.
ACC is a state college operating on a limited budget for maintenance, and needed a long-lasting bridge with limited required maintenance. Hot-dip galvanized steel was specified for the project for its durability and low life-cycle cost. Using HDG is a cost effective solution and it will allow the bridge to withstand the humid Texas environment and abrasiveness of the foot traffic. The HDG bridge provides the college a safer method for students to maneuver between buildings and has become a local landmark in Austin.
