CloseHot-dip galvanizing was chosen for its corrosion performance since it performs better than the paint used on these trailers in previous years. Also, the hot-dip galvanized coating is much more durable than paint, specifically when used in the rental trailer market.
The intial cost was not that significant over paint, there is little to no maintenance on the hot-dip galvanizing, and the fact that resale of a galvanized trailer is higher than a painted trailer increased the benefit of the life-cycle cost of the galvanized trailer.
