The ALLEYCAT trailer, designed by Dempster Industries, is manufactured to assist rural communities with recycling solid waste. Recognizing the obstacles small rural Midwest communities face with recycling solid waste, the trailers are primarily left on a main street or parks for universal access.
Collection trailers serve many purposes, including ease of labor, handicapped accessibilities, a lightweight design, and ease of towing and unloading.
The ALLEYCAT trailer was first purchased by the U.S. military in Hawaii. After failures with two painted trailers that rusted prematurely, military requested the trailers to be hot-dip galvanized. Dempster Industries, citing past success with durable galvanized windmills in the Midwest, now specifies all ALLEYCAT trailers be galvanized for long lasting corrosion protection. Their collection trailers serve many purposes, including ease with labor, handicapped accessibilities, a lightweight design, and ease with towing and unloading.
The galvanized coating holds up well to the rigors of unloading the recyclables, and is protected against chipping on rough rural dirt roads. The entire trailer frame and the mesh panels are fully hot-dip galvanized. Recently Dempster Industries was invited by the National Park Service to display the ALLEYCAT trailer at the 2008 Concession Conference Expo in California. Cited for its "green" components and long service life, the trailers are now potentially anticipating a huge surge in market growth opportunity. By using HDG, Dempster Industries presents the recycling industry with visually pleasing and maintenance free product that will last for many generations ahead.
