The Women of War (W.O.W.) Star at the Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Park in Conroe, Texas is a tribute to the women that went to work when the men went to war. Women rose to the challenge to become police officers, fire fighters, factory workers, farmers, ranchers, and anything else required to run this country. The project also honors women who have taken an active role in war and the sacrifices they have made in pursuit of defending our country.
The memorable star, galvanized to enhance the visual appeal of the monument and for long-term corrosion protection, leaves a lasting impression on all who visit and tour the park.
The attractiveness of the galvanized monument elevates the experience of those exploring the park, and it also punctuates the importance of the W.O.W. Star honorees.
The stakeholders for the W.O.W. Star, including the Montgomery Country Veterans Memorial Commission, have collaborated with partners to help bring to life a park and center that preserves history and honors the experiences and sacrifices of our country’s veterans, active-duty military, and first responders.
