The Waterfall of Peace sculpture, a bold feature at the new Wing Dingers restaurant in Canton, TX was Wing Dingers owner, Chris Fischer’s, unique idea to attract customers to his restaurant. Chris commissioned Pond Creek Studios owner and artist, Jonathon Cromer, to fabricate his vision and execute on a complex design in a very tight production window.
Chris was only 4 weeks away from the grand opening of his restaurant and was looking for an outdoor artistic piece to generate traffic in the restaurant square. Pond Creek brought Chris’ vision to life with a 14’ high and 10’ wide uplifting steel design within the deadline.

The high level of complexity of the hand required an accessible and consistent line of communication between the owner, designer/fabricator, and galvanizer to ensure the project met the tight production schedule and still produced a high-quality product. The Waterfall of Peace is a multifaceted structure combining similarly designed parts, having every piece of steel on the sculpture hot-dip galvanized. Inventory management was especially important to ensure the parts were delivered in sequence assisting with the 4-week production window.
The Waterfall of Peace might have you questioning, why the sixth finger? Interestingly enough, Chris wanted the sculpture fashioned just so to eliminate any angles in photography that might capture an offensive gesture. The waterfall feature poses the most significant corrosion problem for steel design. Hot-dip galvanizing was the clear choice by Pond Creek to defend against an integrated water element and provide patrons and visitors an aesthetically beautiful design for years to come. The hand is covered in an artificial boxwood matte that gives the sculpture a green foliage appearance with a galvanized waterfall trough atop the palm. Jon wanted a maintenance-free structure to give long-lasting sustainability when the time came to replace the boxwood matte.
