In the far reaches of western Oklahoma lies a town called Woodward. It’s often referred to as “flyover country,” and while that may be true, sometimes you can find something impressive in the unassuming—if you know where to look. Take White’s Welding, for example. White’s Welding, LLC is a premier welding and fabrication company with over 22 years of experience designing and building sophisticated equipment for a variety of industries.
“We over-engineer and over-build everything we do. Getting these trailer frames and tanks galvanized was just a natural progression of that philosophy." - Russell Thompson, lead design engineer.
White’s latest offering is something familiar but unique, intuitive, & practical. Meet the Command Vac CV1000 Vacuum Excavator. This Clydesdale of a hydrovac trailer sports impressive capabilities advantageous to multiple sectors. Weighing in at 8,500 pounds with a 70-horsepower water-cooled diesel engine, a 4,000 PSI adjustable high-pressure wash pump, a 1,000 CFM vacuum system, a 270-degree rotating boom that extends up to 18 feet, and a 1,000-gallon tank, this robust and dynamic piece of equipment is built to do it all—and, more importantly, to last. The X-factor of this iteration of the Command Vac is its impressive new finish, offering vitality, durability, and, most importantly, long-lasting corrosion-resistant zinc protection. “We over-engineer and over-build everything we do,” says Russell Thompson, lead design engineer. “Getting these trailer frames and tanks galvanized was just a natural progression of that philosophy. Nobody here wants our equipment to fail in the field at any time.” And that’s what makes White’s Welding’s approach different. So, what inspired this innovation on their hydrovac trailers? To understand, we need to zoom out and learn more about the company and its story. With locations and deployable welders in West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Texas, White’s Welding has seen a lot. They build a wide variety of equipment—from trailers, tanks, and separators to electrical transmission tools such as overhead pullers and wheel tensioners—and their products perform work all over the country. But throughout their travels, they noticed something: from the rugged oilfields of the South and West to the coastal climates of the North and Northeast; they all pose a common challenge—harsh environments that introduce corrosion, especially inside the tanks themselves. As they surveyed equipment in the marketplace, they saw the widespread issue of corrosion and how severely it shortened equipment lifespans. That’s when a brilliant idea began to take shape: Why don’t we galvanize the steel-fabricated portions of the hydrovac trailers? While a galvanized trailer isn’t a brand-new concept, galvanizing the corresponding support components—and especially the tank—was. This groundbreaking development motivated White’s Welding to consult their galvanizer and begin working on a new generation of the Command Vac CV1000. Galvanizing tanks can be challenging due to their large cavity and their capacity to hold zinc upon withdrawal from the kettle. Critical design discussions ensured the tank and trailer components were galvanizer-friendly, coated appropriately per ASTM A123, and finished to the highest quality. After the coating was completed, the pieces were delivered back to White’s facility in Woodward for final assembly and installation of electrical components and equipment, all in preparation for the trailer’s debut at the North American Trailer Dealers Association Trade Show in October 2025. Reception of the hot-dip galvanized Command Vac CV1000 was overwhelmingly positive, with interest from multiple industries. These vacuum pump trailers are used by municipalities to locate oil, water, and gas lines; identify holes; and vacuum loose material to refill “potholes” both underground and on the surface. The high-pressure water hoses clear debris in pipelines—rocks, dust, tree roots, organic matter, trash, and waste. Hydro-excavation pumps use water pressure and vacuum rather than augers or core bits, which can tear up lines when maps of underground utilities are inaccurate. Hydro-excavation avoids that risk entirely. Needless to say, this type of equipment is critical to maintaining infrastructure nationwide, and the new hot-dip galvanized Command Vac intends to do that better—and longer—than ever before. The team at White’s Welding is excited to introduce this innovative, powerful, and industry-disrupting hydro-excavation trailer to the market. And while the work it performs often goes unnoticed behind the scenes of everyday life, the Command Vac CV1000 is anything but subtle.
