CloseThe Design Aide is located for full visibility and access adjacent to the Civil Engineering Building on the Citadel's campus. Numerous parades, tour buses and visitors for various function, as well as cadets themselves, regularly view this structure. Complete disassembly of the painted structure and sandblasting was required to remove the severely chipped paint that was allowing base steel corrosion. The Design Aide required outstanding corrosion prevention. It is erected outside and exposed to the elements year round. It is located approximately 150 yards (137 m) from a saltwater basin.
