Have you ever wanted to go somewhere you’ve never been before, but didn’t quite know how to get there? Maybe the trek was too long or the terrain too rough? The Terra-EXP Expedition Truck is the answer you’ve been looking for. There’s no better time than the present to hit the open road and explore all that Mother Nature has to offer. Make no mistake, Terra-EXP is not a one size fits all operation. Their focus is to supply base trucks, sub-frames and cabins, as well as custom engineered equipment and products for long-distance travelling. They focus on the specific needs of each individual customer by enabling them to develop and plan a personal cabin layout. In the late 1970’s, long-haul traveling and all-terrain exploring was gaining popularity all over Europe and Africa. Fast forward to today and interest is gaining in the United States and Canada as well. The goal of Terra-EXP is to support anyone that desires to explore the world!
The President of Terra-EXP, specified a hot dip galvanized coating for the spare tire rack for its superior corrosion protection, durability, and aesthetic appeal.
The base truck of choice is a used all-wheel truck chassis from Mercedes Benz without any extravagant motor electronics. Most of these used trucks come from a previous commercial, military, or fire truck background. The engines in these trucks have been known to achieve upwards of 1,000,000 miles. The box cabin is thermal insulated (thermal transfer-free) and has thermal transfer-free connections. All the walls and base board where the integrated steel frame will be mounted onto the auxiliary steel frame on the base-truck, are thermal transfer-free. All box-cabin edges are circumferentially reinforced with aluminum angle profile, plus an additional aluminum endcap on each corner. These aluminum angle profiles are also thermal transfer-free. The windows have double pane insulation glass and include roller blinds with 100% black-out and fly screen protection with brush seal and magnetic closure. The doors are built from laser-cut aluminum with welded corners. Doors have a stainless-steel handle and a certified locking cylinder for safe operation. All doors are standard equipped with a 3-point locking system, and the cabin is attached to the intermediate frame. Successfully proven during Rally-Sport, the intermediate sub frame protects both the truck frame from the rigid case and vice versa. It absorbs the enormous torsional forces that inevitably occur when driving off-road. Furthermore, the frame decouples the cabin from the vehicle chassis in the event of diagonal twisting.
Each Terra-EXP Expedition Truck comes equipped with a spare tire rack which mounts directly to the rear of the truck. The rack is fabricated with structural tubing, and then hot-dip galvanized. Martin Krauss, President of Terra-EXP, specified a hot dip galvanized coating for the spare tire rack for its superior corrosion protection, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Compared to other coatings such as paint & powder coating, the initial low cost along with decades of maintenance free performance make the hot-dip galvanized coating the obvious #1 choice.
