Due to the proximity of the Atlantic Ocean and the salt air, a duplex system was was specified for this project. The salty seawater environment of southern Florida required the sterling protection of hot-dip galvanized steel, while a painted finish would allow the client to achieve any aesthetic requirements. As these tennis courts are often televised, visual appearance is paramount. The tennis courts are seen by the public and the Sony Ericsson open will have a television audience, and the duplex system of paint over galvanizing will keep corrosion at bay and keep the court lighting gleaming and the focus on the game.
