The Webster Groves Slipstream waterslide is a landmark aquatic attraction that has drawn international attention for pushing the limits of stand-up waterslide design. Located at the Webster Groves Aquatic Center in Missouri, Slipstream is widely promoted as the world’s longest stand-up waterslide, featuring a near-vertical drop that falls roughly 75 feet and delivers riders into a high-speed, body-surfing descent. Unlike traditional tube slides, riders experience the attraction upright, using water flow and gravity to achieve extreme speeds, making it a unique and adrenaline-driven experience. Since opening, Slipstream has helped establish Webster Groves as a destination for innovative aquatic recreation and set a new benchmark for stand-up waterslide engineering and design.
"At Splashtacular, we bring together expert engineering and design with a passion for fun. Our team holds patents, professional licenses, and industry-leading skills, but at heart, we’re still big kids—eager to create water attractions we’d love to ride ourselves."
A duplex system, combining hot-dip galvanizing with a durable topcoat, offers exceptional corrosion protection for Splashtacular’s stand-up waterslide, where constant exposure to water, chemicals, and UV radiation is continuous. The galvanized layer provides robust sacrificial protection to the steel, while the topcoat acts as an additional barrier against moisture and aggressive pool chemicals. Together, these layers significantly extend the service life of structural components, reducing the risk of rust-related failures and ensuring consistent performance in demanding aquatic environments. Beyond longevity, the duplex system enhances safety and reliability for a stand-up waterslide experience. Galvanizing delivers uniform coverage, even on complex geometries and hard-to-reach areas typical of waterslide structures, helping prevent hidden corrosion. The added coating improves surface durability and resistance to abrasion from repeated use and high-velocity water flow. This means fewer sharp edges, less structural degradation over time, and a safer attraction for riders and operators alike. Finally, the duplex system provides strong economic and aesthetic benefits for Splashtacular’s stand-up waterslide installations. Although the initial investment may be higher, lifecycle costs are substantially lower due to reduced maintenance, fewer shutdowns, and extended repainting intervals. The topcoat also allows for vibrant colors and branding that remain bright under sun and water exposure, enhancing visual appeal while protecting the galvanized steel beneath. This combination delivers a high-performance, visually striking waterslide with lasting value.
