Spiral Staircase

The owners of this beautiful coastal retreat installed a new two-story deck over their existing hot tub. A galvanized spiral staircase was chosen due to exposure to the temperate coastal climate and well as blending aesthetically with the natural cedar siding, concrete steps, and surrounding sand.

The staircase presented material handling challenges due to the design issues inherent in a spiral staircase as well as the overall dimensions. The staircase had to be progressively dipped because it was wider than the galvanizer's kettle. The concrete pan stairs had to be handled carefully to avoid being damaged during the progressive dipping process.
