Corrosion is the name of the game in this aggressive industrial environment. The uncontrolled environment of this storage building in Wisconsin weathers the cold of northern winters and the heat of summer. Built on the banks of a river, fog and high humidity are regular occurrences. Storage of wood chips includes moisture and corroding wood. These conditions create a unique corrosion situation. Galvanizing was chosen as the best defense against corrosion potential.
The recommendations of the engineers and the experience of the fabricator made it an easy choice to specify hot-dip galvanizing. Galvanizing's quality finish and the lack of future repainting were also factors.
