The timeline for this project was unique as the rooftop structure was being constructed during the current NBA season. The project had to be completed by the time of the NBA playoffs (started in May) and in time to host the Republican National Convention in June.
Both of these high profile events forced the construction team, the fabricator, and the galvanizer to communicate and strategically plan how to pull these demands (directly from the owner) off in time for the maximum national exposure they were seeking.
The owner of the arena was looking for a strong, durable, corrosion resistant, design that would not cost much to maintain in the future. With the recommendation and previous successful experiences of the design firm, WJHW, it was concluded that hot dip galvanized structural steel was the solution to getting the project done within budget and on time.
