The new Veterinary Medical Hospital Complex encompasses more than 160,000 square feet of new hospital space on 13 acres. The new Veterinary Hospital facilities will feature the latest designs and equipment to provide the most advanced level of care and treatment to animal patients. Notable components of the new complex include a separate hospital for equine patients, a stand-alone facility for farm animals, and a new structure that expanded the Small Animal Hospital by adding 65,000 square feet to the existing 40,000 square foot facility.
“Due to the initial cost, the steel being exposed to animal waste, and the ease of clean up, hot-dip galvanizing was the best choice available to protect this investment from corrosion.”
As part of the new Veterinary Medical Hospital 49 large animal stall panels, gates, and framing were galvanized. Early on the designers decided that all of the hot-dip galvanized steel should be internally vented to avoid holding water after being washed down. The fabricator worked closely with the galvanizer and studied several AGA design documents to make sure hot-dip galvanizing could successfully be done.
