Saltwater, humidity, and Florida's tropical environment are all enemies of the steel construction boat trailer. The submersion of the trailer when launching a boat can wreak havoc on the steel members. The last thing an individual wants is a breakdown due to corrosion while trailering their boat. In this industry corrosion protection is an absolute necessity. Myco Trailers is a world leader, and has set themselves apart in the trailer industry. Myco trailers are custom built, all-welded boat trailers for a perfect fit for the hull shape of your boat.
Myco Trailers not only supplies custom-built boat trailers to individual boat owners, but also builds custom trailers for racing teams, militaries, governments, and various organizations worldwide. Many of these trailers are hot-dip galvanized for corrosion resistance to withstand the various, harsh environments that they may be subjected to. The cathodic protection of hot-dip galvanizing will ensure that the steel trailer holds strong against corrosion of fresh water and salt water alike. Also, the hardness and durability of the galvanized coating will not easily scratch making it susceptible to corrosion. This is an important quality for military use when transporting through heavy brush, rugged terrain, and various environments around the globe. The durability and long life of hot-dip galvanizing provides a cost-effective product allowing Mycos customers to further invest in improving their boat rather than making repairs to their trailer.
Due to the customization of their trailers, Myco's production team frequently consults with their galvanizer. The trailers incorporate a series of steel tubes and channels that tend to create areas of concern for galvanizing. Consideration must be given in the fabrication to provide for proper venting and draining. Many times the trailer being constructed may require it to be progressive dipped. Myco has had trailers up to 60' in length hot-dip galvanized. Some trailers that are manufactured for air transport may be hinged and require additional care by the galvanizer. Often, individuals and teams prefer that their trailer match the color of their boat. These boats are often for saltwater use. In these instances, a duplex coating will be applied in order to retain the corrosion prevention needed and supply the desired color. After galvanizing, the trailer will be prepped and painted. While protecting the steel, the galvanized coating will also protect the paint by preventing corrosion from creeping underneath and causing it to flake. The paint will protect the galvanized coating. Working together, this combination will provide a lifetime of corrosion protection for the trailer.
Having boats such as Hydra-Sports, Intrepid, Cigarette, MTI and others valued up to several hundred thousand dollars, customers want to know that they have a trailer equal in quality, craftsmanship, and reliability. It is Myco Trailers goal to deliver those traits with every trailer they manufacture. Utilizing hot-dip galvanizing for the corrosion prevention on their trailers is a key ingredient in accomplishing that goal.
