The state park sign needed a superior corrosion protection system to protect it from the harsh Michigan winters. The state had long ago learned the benefits of hot-dip galvanized steel, and chose to specify a duplex system of paint over hot-dip galvanized steel.
The sign was part of an ongoing rehabilitation project for the park, and the public is very conscious of how the money is spent and how the park looks. The duplex system will address both of these concerns, as galvanizing is virtually maintenance free, and the paint will allow the sign to achieve whatever color the park specifies.
