Displayed over the entrance to the base at McEntire Air National Guard in Hopkins, South Carolina, is an airplane held up by three and a half tons of hot-dip galvanized steel. The pedestal holding the airplane constantly has to endure the outdoor elements, making HDG steel the obvious choice of protection against corrosion. HDG steel also gives the pedestal an aesthetically pleasing look, as it provides a smooth and uniform coating. It will ensure the airplane stays structurally sound to stand as a tribute to Guard members for years to come.
