Lenape II is a 4.7 MWdc solar generation project consisting of q 2.0 Megawatt rooftop system and a 2.7 megawatt PV canopy system. Recycling the property that formerly was home to an aging shopping center and then the police command post for Super Bowl XLVI, this project is a great example of the newest trends in sustainable property use combined with the newest electricity generation systems.
The power generated will connect into the Indianapolis Power and Light distribution grid at 13.2 kv. Lenape will sell power to the utility under a 15 year preferred partner agreement. Lenape II consists of 15,516 - 305 watt solar modules, 5 - 800 kW inverters and 5 - 1000 kVA MV step-up transformers. In its first year, Lenape II is expected to generate more than 6,400 MWh.
Designed and built by Sky Construction and Engineering, the entire structure was hot dip galvanized. With many solar installations completed, Sky knows that hot-dip galvanizing provides the best corrosion protection for their projects. Hot-dip galvanizing has also proven to be the most cost effective system over the long term. They will continue to build these environmentally friendly projects using hot-dip galvanizing in the future.
