The Leaside Bridge, completed in 1969, is located in Toronto, Ontario, and has remained in good condition through present day. Although much of the galvanized coating remained in top shape, the HSS had bowed under stress and was refurbished in 2006. Some of the original galvanized stringers remain in place and untouched, with the coating still in very good condition. Over the years, galvanized steel has protected the bridge from the constant onslaught of high traffic and corrosive seasonal road conditions. During the last 35 years, the original two-lane structure was blast cleaned and painted at least twice. Updated with the benefits of HDG steel, the bridge will remain standing, corrosion-free, for years to come, ensuring drivers a safe journey between Leaside and East York.
