Innovation Blvd. Pedestrian Bridge

Located on historic Penn State University's campus, the Innovation Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge gives students access to their classes. The bridge was hot-dip galvanized (HDG) in order to achieve lasting protection from the corrosive Pennsylvania environment. After the 40 foot bridge was galvanized, it was powered coated for an additional layer of corrosion protection. This duplex system gives the bridge both cathodic (sacrificial) and barrier protection.

The layer of zinc will protect any vulnerable exposed steel by coping with the corrosive environment. The paint on top provides extra barrier protection, strengthening the already resilient (HDG) steel. With the support of duplex system HDG, Penn States Innovation Boulevard Pedestrian Bridge will continue to guide the steps of generations of students.
