Towering 36 feet tall, this work of art is surrounded by office buildings in downtown San Francisco. This galvanized artwork adds colorful character to the courtyard that houses it. The five ton human structure consists of 11 different colors. Each piece was hot-dipped galvanized (HDG) then brush blasted and primed before a marine water-based top coat of color was applied. This is a fantastic example of using duplex system on a project to enhance both aesthetics and durability.
HDG was chosen over all other steel coating systems.
The bay area of northern California is known for its very damp and wet weather throughout the year. In addition to the weather, the industrial environment of the surrounding city greatly contributes to accelerated corrosion. In effort to protect this colorful artistic structure, HDG was chosen over all other steel coating systems. Thanks to HDG, the human structure will continue to add color and life to San Francisco for many years to come.
