A top priority for the architect of Howell Gas Station was to provide clients with low-or no-maintenance structures, so it is no surprise that durable hot-dip galvanized steel was the corrosion protection plan of choice. 

This particular project called for 30 tons of HDG steel, including components that would become beam canopies, angle lintels as well as roof HVAC frames. Along with providing maintenance-free structures, the architect was also deeply concerned with sustainable design. The maintenance-free nature of galvanized steel means no wasteful energy or harmful chemicals will be expended on continuous maintenance. The fact that HDG steel is 100% recyclable also fits perfectly with this sustainable design philosophy.
