Farmers in the area were looking for a change from the standard painted machine that was becoming a problem due to wear and tear. Cows getting in and out of the machine as well as the body fluids constantly coming in contact with the paint made for a short life span on the machines. Tuffy Tables reached out to us and we developed a plan to galvanize these complicated machines.
Tuffy Tables was quickly enamored with the possibility of the tables lasting 10 to 15 years rather than the 4 to 5 they had been. The idea that a farmer could upgrade and as technology got better sell his old machine was a promising prospect. They could do away with scraping the machine for pennies on the dollar.
The entire machine was made of galvanized plate, TS, and channel. They had various weldments with numerous pieces welded together. It was a challenging piece to galvanize due to the various thickness'. The machine was sent to us in loose pieces and assembled after galvanizing.
Adding galvanizing has helped this product last longer and become more durable. Cows kicking, rubbing, and going to the bathroom on it created a challenge for the farming community but they feel like galvanizing has really created a new market for them. Plus the money being put back into the farms instead of the machine is helping tremendously.
Durability is a huge factor in galvanizing these machines and will continue to be why they grow in popularity. Passing these machines from farmer to farmer as new machines become available will help farming survive and hopefully flourish again.
