This is an extremely unique structure and one of the longest escalator links in the world. The roof glazing structure was specially designed for this project. All the structural frames, steel balustrades and hand railing were hot-dip galvanized not only for corrosion prevention, but also because the owners wanted the link to blend well with the surrounding area.

The escalator link consists of the escalators/travellators, walkways, stairs, and footbridges connecting the central and midlevels of Hong Kong. In all, the link measures 3,280 ft. (1,000 m). Galvanizing was chosen as the corrosion prevention system to protect the roof structures. These galvanized structures were then painted to provide additional barrier protection.
