The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino has one iconic statue that most people recognize. That statue is the electric guitar. The Hard Rock recently opened a new facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma and they contacted YESCO in Las Vegas, Nevada to construct their seventy two foot tall guitar.
YESCO’s customer wanted the internal frames, the most critical parts that hold the structure together, to not rust and have the longevity that hot-dip galvanizing process provides.
The guitar’s internal structures are made up of multiple hot-dip galvanized frames, due to the large size of the guitar. The body of the guitar is fabricated out of 2 and 3 inch square tube, sent to the galvanizer in sections of 4’ wide, by 11’ high, and 26’ long. The neck of the guitar is fabricated out of three tapered round tubes starting at twenty four inches, tapered down to three inches. The round tube is then covered by a square tube frame and galvanized. The neck piece’s dimension was sent to the galvanizer in 4’ wide, 8’ high, and 43’ long. YESCO’s customer wanted the internal frames, the most critical parts that hold the structure together, to not rust and have the longevity that the hot-dip galvanizing process provides.
YESCO then covered the corrosion protected frames that make up the endoskeleton of the guitar with aluminum sheeting. That was to create the skin of the guitar and to help keep the statue lightweight. Once the statue was covered, it was then painted with great detail along with the additions of neon lights for the strings. YESCO did a remarkable job creating the guitar for all Hard Rock guests to enjoy.
