The four towers are located at the junction of three major streets and on the direct route visitors from the Omaha Airport take to the convention center and downtown. Convinced that painted over hot-dip galvanized steel towers would present an excellent first impression of Omaha, the city specified that the 34 tons of tubular steel box sections be erected. Transparent to the city but of much focus to the fabricator and galvanizer was the requirement to vent the fabricated assemblies for quality galvanizing. 157 internal vents were ultimately required and the plugging of the holes and touchup of the areas was seamless to the city. This duplex coating is expected to showcase the city of Omaha for 100 years and be a maintenance-free element of the infrastructure for the duration.
