FirstBank Amphitheater sits on a 138-Acre reclaimed limestone quarry in Franklin, Tennessee. The site, at Graystone Quarry, once littered with over 900 Tons of old tires, concrete culverts, and other trash now serves as a 7,500-seat music venue booking world famous acts every week.
In addition to the sustainability advantages, the use of galvanized steel was also an integral part of the aesthetic design
With a diligent effort to reduce landfill waste the venue’s commitment to the environment goes beyond that massive initial cleanup and impacts the materials used in construction, at the concession stands, and everywhere else. The decision to use galvanized steel for the construction of the risers, handrails, sign frames and other structures fits that commitment by extending the useful life of the steel for decades to come while being 100% recyclable once at the end of life.
In addition to the sustainability advantages, the use of galvanized steel was also an integral part of the aesthetic design and serves to blend the venue into the surrounding rocky landscape. Along with the stadium style seating, there are VIP suites and elevated cliff-side suites all constructed from galvanized steel beams and will be enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of people each year.
The design, fabrication, and galvanizing of this project was a highly collaborative and coordinated effort from all parties involved and was ready to go for the first show headlined by Greta Van Fleet on August 5th 2021.
