Fire Training Structures (FTS), which fabricates customized training structures to meet the specific needs of its domestic and international customer base of first responders, has grown from a single-minded focused fabricator of fire training structures to a multifaceted internationally recognized fabricator of training aids for first responders.
Whether its fire training, federal or local law enforcement interdiction on land or at sea, stationary or mobile, FTS designs, engineers and fabricates enclosures, towers and systems that help first responders practice and react to real-life events. The structures are specifically designed for repeat live fire and training exercises.
Fire training structures are built with the latest innovations and comply with The National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 1402. The fire training structures can use class A or liquid propane gas as fuel sources. In addition, the fire training modules can be completely customized to the individual clients needs and specifications. Structures are certified to NFPA 86 and UL 508A.
Training enclosures for federal and local law enforcement utilize controlled environments to simulate, educate and teach new recruits, while honing the skills of more seasoned veterans and special operations personnel. The dark confined spaces represent a myriad of different scenarios law enforcement professionals are confronted with regularly.
The newest training simulator FTS has developed has its roots in maritime. Chevron approached FTS with its specific desires and FTS delivered. Throughout the years, the petroleum industry has relied on tanker vessels to transport their payload.
On a few occasions, the industry has endured events that have impacted both the oil refiner and the consumer and has cost human lives, the loss of which is priceless. Chevron commissioned FTS to build a land-based mockup of a tanker vessel that could be used to simulate and train for fire, hostage and terrorist threats. Chevron reveres this is such an important issue globally they allow the use of the training aide by others. The ship enclosure is at the El Segundo, California, Refinery and is used regularly.
Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) was chosen for its longevity and the fact it is virtually maintenance free. Many of these trainers are in remote areas where our first responders gather to train. These systems are expected to work right every time without issue. HDG coatings provide both performance and peace of mind. These vital structures equip our first responders with a controlled environment exposing them to conditions found in the real world to better prepare them to provide for our safety and security.
The galvanizer is privileged to provide galvanizing services to FTS for this and all the trainers FTS manufactures. We supply galvanizing for exposed stairs, treads, handrails, ladders, hatch frames, hatches, light poles, stanchions and roof grates. It is an honor to be involved with such devoted and honorable individuals and know that we are helping provide reliability and safety.
This project is a fantastic example of why HDG is so important and how it plays a critical role in keeping first responders safe.
